The Strathcona Poetry Studio is a space for poets and poetry-lovers to gather, connect, and write in community. Whether you’re picking up a pen for the first time or polishing a manuscript, you’ll find a place here. Workshops are open to adults (18+) of all experience levels, grounded in the belief that poetry is for everyone.
In 2026, I’ll be facilitating two creative spaces: Tuesday Night Write (drop-in, Zoom) and Wednesday Salon (in person, 8-week series, offered three times: Winter, Spring, Fall).
Detail below.
Tuesday Night Write is an ongoing weekly generative space. Each week I’ll share poems to inspire, followed by timed writing exercises from prompts. There will be an opportunity at the end to share what you’ve written. I invite you to “set a vibe” in your space: light a candle, make a cup of tea, dim the lights, and join us for an evening of poetry. There will be an invitation at the end to share what you’ve written. This gathering is open to all writers, whether you’re just beginning or have years of experience.
How to Join Tuesday Night Write
Tuesday Night Write is offered on a drop-in basis, and it is open to all. Register on Eventbrite.
The Wednesday Night Salon is a more structured, in-person series—hosted in my home in Strathcona—for poets seeking both community and craft in a cozy, casual environment. Each week, we’ll spend the first hour reading and workshopping poems, followed by a second hour of dedicated writing time. Upon completion of the class, you’ll receive feedback on a short manuscript or selection of your work. Writers at all stages are welcome, whether you’re new to sharing your poems or already working toward a manuscript.
The Wednesday Night Salon is an in-person, 8-week series offered three times in 2026 (Winter, Spring, Fall). Each session includes weekly workshops, dedicated writing time, and manuscript feedback at the end of the course.

Testimonials
“The Strathcona Poetry Studio was a door into a wider community of poets, something everyone is always hungry for in Vancouver. Collaborating and witnessing poetic creation under Ellie’s facilitation was vital for me in developing confidence towards my early drafts and ideas; I felt a shift in how I read my poetry and approached feedback. How lucky I am to sit with other writers in this space, curated by Ellie, with the goal of nurturing not just the poems, but the poet. ”
“The Strathcona Poetry Studio reignited my love of my poetry and gave me a community of poets to work with. Whether you’re an experienced poet looking for some extra inspiration or just getting into writing, I would deeply recommend this studio! ”
