IMPROMPTU #90: Write About a Road Trip

I lean on the warm west
window. Are we there yet and how

long and I have to pee an hour
out of Portland, seeing my life

in reverse. Cows in the fields shrink
to calves, barn wood rehydrates.

- from "Route Recalculation"

From a poem I wrote about being a grown-ass woman on a road trip with my parents <3. Today's prompt: write about a road trip.

Merry 90 days of IMPROMPTU!

IMPROMPTU #89: Unusual Opposites

What's the opposite of anxiety? The opposite of stone? Choose an object, material, or abstract concept that doesn't have a direct opposite and explore what its opposite might be. Make it as weird and surprising and non-concrete as you want.

Read poems "The Opposite of Nostalgia" and "The Opposite of the Body" for further inspiration.

IMPROMPTU #88: Word Pool by Bianca Casady

I've been following Bianca Casady on Instagram for a few months now, and I really enjoy her writing prompts and group poetry projects. It's so super cool to watch a collaborative poem unfold before your eyes. Also the Instagram poetry/writing community is really weird and cool, and it's interesting to see all the ways artists and writers interact with each other.

So today's prompt is one of Bianca Casady's word pools:

Write a poem or micro fiction. Use all of the words; challenge yourself to use only the words pictured if that's what you're into, otherwise add as many as you want. Check out my post on Instagram @impromptuprompts later today and share your creation if you feel so inclined, would love to see what you come up with.
